This webpage is made in reference to the movie "pirates of silicon valley" which follows the lives of two of the godfathers of computing today, Steve Jobs and Bill Gate.
Dos is the operating system that runs a computer. Microsoft Windows is an operating system made by Microsoft. Macintosh is a series of several lines of personal computers designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc.
The metaphor in the commercial meant that 1984 won't be an ordinary year. It will be a year where Macintosh will be introduced. It will be an extraordinary year where Steve Jobs introduced what is now one of the most successful software in the world.
One principle activity that is in wide use today is the windows operating systems that were developed by Microsoft. Thanks to Microsoft many computers today use a windows operating system used for computers to do the work that they have been given though instructions. Macintosh has now fallen out of favour due to new and better models of computers arising and taking its place. The apple computers have rebounded and have been used in phones from now on.
The film has affected our thoughts on intellectual property that they should be better. Microsoft copied a lot of ideas from Apple even when they owned the right to the work they had done when making computers. Due to the intellectual properties not been as strict Microsoft got away with stealing apples work, and this can happen to any person that designs something that is very important.
Steve fired a lot of employees and treated them as tools, garbage and a stepping stone for his success. He also abandoned his child with her mother and ran off. In the end, he was the one that got fired and started to fail. However, Bill who treats his employees as equals; got more and more successful and ended up doing a very good job. This goes to show that if you do bad things, bad things will happen to you sooner or later.
This film is history, education and entertainment. It's history as it tells me about what happened in the past and how technology today has come to be. It was education because like I said, it teaches us history and it teaches a little bit of basic computer studies. Finally, it is entertainment because it was filled with jokes, had interesting characters, a gradual development to the climax and very meaningful parts as well as a very effective ending to the story. Thank you Mr. Arkin, we enjoyed the film!
