Hi, my name is Vinoth, and I am the fastest living organism in the world! I am faster than Usain Bolt. I am faster than a cheetah. I am faster than light. O.K. the last part was a lie, but I am fast. I’m so fast that I can run to Brazil and back in 5 minutes. I can clean my whole house in mere seconds. I’m so fast that I can catch the criminal before a crime! Yes, I’m sure handy, which is why I have won numerous awards from the city for catching criminals. But I wasn’t always fast. There was once a time where I was slow, very slow. Here follows my story...
The year is 1999. I am 4 years old. Yes, I may not remember from anything from that age, but my parents told me enough. They told me that at that age, I didn’t like to participate in activities. I wouldn’t move to play tag with other kids; I would just be sitting on the floor. I barely walked. My parents had to pick me up to move me around; I would resist getting up. My parents were very worried. This was very bad in the learning process. This was also bad for my health. I was getting fat, and I would eat all the time. Nearing the beginning of the new millennium, everyone was scared due to a fictional theory called “Y2K”. Simply put, people say that this would be the destruction of earth. But my parents didn’t believe in that nonsense, and were very free on the last day of the 20th century. Many people bought back-up radios and televisions and spent this day in a back-up cellar. This over usage of radios and televisions led to many signals in the air. At the same time, a mysterious meteor was soaring across the sky. It was shining brilliantly. That day, my parents and I, went to my relatives’ house in the downtown Toronto core area, near the C.N. Tower. He lived in an apartment, and he bragged how nice the view was.
My mother took me out to the balcony, so that we could see that world before the 21st century. My mother went back in for some reason, but I didn’t care, because my cousin was right, the view was fantastic. Clouds diverged to allow bright sun rays to pass through so brightly that my eyes were blinded. When I opened my eyes, I saw a meteor soaring across the sky. It was very peculiar, nothing like those you see at the Discovery Channel. After staring at the meteor, I began to get a headache. But I, being curious, continued looking at the meteor. By the time my mom came back out, the meteor disappeared. Closing on to the end of the day, my head began to hurt again. Then I started twitching, increasing speed each time, until I was able to run around at incredible speed in panic of what just happened. This is how I received my superpower.
The doctor explained to us how this happened. The strong radio waves of the CN tower has slightly configured with my brain to change its orientation. The meteor was actually composed of dangerously radioactive material. This messed with the brain nerve structure. The result, the brain sending many accelerated signals to the body parts in panic. My hands and legs were moving fast! Ever since this moment, I have been stuck with this condition, in which I call “super speed”. The doctor had trained me to control my power, and by age 9, I have been able to control my brain to function normally, but I can still send accelerated signals.
I use my powers for good, of course! I catch robbers and I protect the citizens of my fabulous city. I have earned an excellent reputation for using my powers for good. Little children look up to me as a hero, which, I don’t blame them. Wherever I go, people need me! I am always willing to help people because my power is a blessing in disguise. I sometimes visit my cottage, which is the league of superheroes. My fellow comrade and I, Superman, or as I call him, Clark, hang out together at the local Kwik-E Mart. I would sometimes help him defeat his arch enemies, such as Lex Luthor. The league of superheroes is definitely a cool club to be a part of. So whenever you need help, just e-mail me, and I will be there before you get off the computer. Super speed, away!
