Turing Reference Manual
The Turing Reference Manual is accessed within the Turing IDE by pressing F10, to launch the manual’s title page, or by pressing F9, to launch the page specific to the keyword or language component which appears under the editor’s cursor.
How does it work?
The reference manual is provided in a format called Microsoft Compiled HTML Help. According to the relevant Wikispaces page, retrieved 2015-11-20, “Microsoft Compiled HTML Help is a Microsoft proprietary online help format, consisting of a collection of HTML pages, an index and other navigation tools. The files are compressed and deployed in a binary format with the extension .CHM, for Compiled HTML. The format is often used for software documentation.”
The actual file, TuringDoc.chm, is in the Turing\Support\Help directory of your Turing IDE installation.
Trouble launching the manual?
Ensure that the Turing IDE is installed in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) directory in the root of your hard disc. If it’s not, delete the entire installation, and re-install from the zip file provided in class.
If re-installation doesn’t solve the problem, use Windows Explorer (File Explorer) to locate TuringDoc.chm in the Turing\Support\Help directory of your Turing IDE installation. Double-click the file to launch the default Microsoft Compiled HTML Help viewer.
Still having problems? A discussion with your teacher might help.
If all else fails
If you need a temporary solution right now, you can use this unofficial online version.
