Geography

There are a couple of ways to find the right direction incase we got lost in a forest. The first way is by using compass bearings(degrees). Compass bearings measure the angle of a direction in relation to North, moving in clockwise direction. The use of compass bearings is more accurate because all points of a compass rose, from 0 degrees to 360 degrees can be used. This is the best way of finding a location, but only if we've got a compass with us. Now apply your understanding

Another way would be by looking at the sun during day time, where the shade falls from any object or thing is west. So therefore we would find where north, south, east and west is and walk towards the right location. We use this method when we dont have a compass. Where sun shade falls

At night time, we could look at the sky and notice the brightest star which would lead north. Another way if we don't have a compass. How to find north

3 Types of Scales

The scale shows the relationship between the distance on a map and the actual distance on the earth's surface. A small distance on the map represents a much larger distance on the earth's surface. Scale can be represented in three different ways: direct statement, line scale, and representative fraction.

A direct statement scale uses words to describe the relationship between a distance on a map and a specific distance on the earth's surface, for example 1cm=10km. The numbers should always be in lowest terms.

Line scale is like a special kind of ruler that is divided into units of distance. For example, 0|_|_|_|_|_|15km which means that 5 cm=15km on earth.More about line scales

The last scale is representative fraction. The fraction is a ratio. For example 1:50 000, which means that 1 unit on the map represents 50 000 of the same units on the earth's surface. Here's how to convert
