Mac OS is distributed through their app store. Updates of the Mac OS can also be found on the apple website. For example sombody would like to update their Mac OS X Tiger to Mac OS Leopard. They would have to purchase the Leopard OS online throught the Apple store and select uprage option. Then the file would be downloaded to the Mac hard drive. They run the file and the update process begins.
